Some Like it HOT! HOT! HOT!

The dangerous heat looks to continue for the next couple of days around Central Missouri. We are continuing to see a ridge hang out over the deep south and southern plains states. This leaves us with plenty of open sky, which makes it easy for the sun to heat things up. Factor in the humidity that is all too familiar to Missouri natives and we are seeing heat indices between 100-110 degrees! Over the past week, six of those days have seen actual temperatures in the middle and lower 90s.

Make sure that if you have to be outside you are drinking plenty of water and wearing sunscreen. Also, don't forget about the pets. Don't leave them outside for too long. Remember, if you have a gently used fan or a brand new one to donate to the KOMU Fan Club, please do so. You can drop them off at the Lowe's in Columbia and Jefferson City, or Westlake Hardware in Fulton. Help to keep your neighbors cool during these hot summer days!
