Hey Mid Missouri,
Well, the heat is on! The season's hottest air mass has made its way into the area and will last through Tuesday. Afternoon highs will top out in the lower 90s Monday, just as they did today. And with lots of moisture in place, heat indices will be near 100. With this type of heat, it is imperative to drink lots more water than usual and limit time outdoors. Also, remember to check on the elderly and keep pets indoors during the hottest times of day: 1pm -4pm.
Tuesday a cold front will push into the region and that will spark a few thunderstorms, but will offer 'cooler' air for Wednesday with less humidity. Wednesday highs fall back into the middle 80s and with lower humidity temps should feel a bit more comfortable.
